Northern Michigan’s Senior Portrait Season

There is something special about late August and September in Northern Michigan. The flowers bloom as the maple trees begin to turn red. The skies are full of giant cumulonimbus clouds. These are like the ones that decorate Andy’s room in the movie “Toy Story”. The grass is still green, and there is normally a hot spell toward the middle of September where it feels like summer again. This is my absolute favorite time to shoot weddings, senior portraits and family portraits in Northern Michigan. Although fall and winter offer up a lovely background for portraits too, this is the time of year I love the most.
